About this Event

On behalf of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, we are delighted to invite members of the wine trade and press to a trade tasting of Georgian wines on 25th March at Trivet restaurant, London.

The general tasting will run from 12pm to 4pm.

A masterclass will be presented from 10:30am to 12pm.

2019 was a tipping point for Georgian wine in the UK: exports increased by 60%, and four major importers added Georgian wine producers to their portfolio for the first time.

The quality and diversity of Georgian wine now available in the UK has blossomed.

Visitors to the tasting will be able to sample a brilliant range including:

Traditional qvevri wines in amber and red styles.

It was with these highly distinctive wines that Georgia first caught our attention, and the category has developed to include both staunchly no-intervention, ‘natural’ styles, as well as examples that combine the intriguing character of qvevri wine with contemporary accessibility.

Classic dry whites

There’s more to Georgia than qvevri wine, and there will be many examples of the lively, delicately perfumed, textured dry whites that UK importers are so excited about.

Classic dry reds

Delicious dry reds from Saperavi and other indigenous grapes will be on show, ranging from the juicy, unoaked medium-bodied to the intense, tannic and age-worthy.

Wines will be poured by importers at their tables, and there will also be a walk-around tasting of wines from producers who are seeking UK partners.

Masterclass

A masterclass will be presented at 10:30am-12pm by Sarah Abbott MW on “Georgia the microcosm – an exploration of the diversity of Georgian wine.”

If you would like to register your interest in attending the masterclass, please select the appropriate option on the registration form, and we will be in touch by direct email to confirm your place.

Please note that this tasting is a trade event for those working in the wine trade, wine media and wine-related roles in hospitality. We may contact you to verify your trade credentials and confirm your attendance. If you have any queries, please contact us.
