The Rainer Wess Story
A bright purity of fruit shows itself in the wines of Rainer Wess, who has been making wine from his new, trendy winery on the outskirts of Krems for five vintages now. An impressive building where glass and steel have been interlaid in a traditional structure, echoing the stylishly clean yet authentic wines that he makes. Grapes are largely bought from seven different growers with whom he has been working for ten years, though he does own a lovely vineyard planted in Spitz as well as a newly planted parcel of Pinot Noir which will begin bearing fruit very soon.

Rainer Wess Wines
There are a few new wines from the Kremstal starting to appear. In the very challenging conditions of 2014, where rain in the Wachau made the vintage even more challenging than further East, Rainer has produced some marvelously intense wines, packed with energy. They are less fat and opulent than the last few vintages. In character they are just the kind of wines Rainer loves to make.
