Austrian Wines Annual Tasting 2010
This is always one of the most important tastings of the year for us and we were very happy with the strong turnout and favourable comments on the wines. We showed the full range of the portfolio ranging from entry-level Gruner Veltliners, to classy Blaufrankish cuvees, via Styrian Sauvignon and of course a great selection of dessert wines. After a long day at the IOD we set off en masse for the Harwood Arms in Fulham for a few more glasses of (non-Austrian) wine and some hearty dinner where it turned out to be Quiz Night. We were in second place at half-time having answered correctly questions about the Danube and about fermentation. Sadly, the questions in the second half were less suited to a team mostly comprising Austrian winemakers, and our lead quickly crumbled...
